Sitting, but more accurately a sedentary lifestyle, has been shown to increase risk for type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, breast and colon cancer, kidney disease in women, chronic illness related to obesity, and most importantly – death.
So what do we do?
Well for starters, you need to get real about how much exercise you do compared to how much you sit. The MINIMUM national guidelines for aerobic exercise are 2.5 hours per week (it’s moderate to intense).
Add in 2 strength sessions and we’ve hit the average guidelines (gulp). On top of this, experts are suggesting that we should (wait for it) – stand or move for 10 minutes out of every 30…..
Sound like a lot? Well, it is…
